This is the Lexus LFA, a two seat supercar scheduled to go into production at the end of 2010. Touted by Toyota Motor Corp. as the jewel of their premium Lexus "F" sports car series, only 500 cars will be sold worldwide at a price tag of $375,000. It was unveiled today, Oct 21, 2009 at the 41st Tokyo Motor Show 2009 by Toyota President Akio Toyoda. The LFA with it's angular deign and cutaways vents has a chassis and body made of lightweight carbon fiber reinforced polymer plastic (CFRP), a 4.8 liter V-10 engine. It packs 552 horsepower and has a top speed of 202 mph (325 kph). This sports car when it goes into production will be assembled to customer order and assembled by hand. Toyota says no more than 20 will be made a month. The Tokyo Motor Show is a biannual auto show. This year's event runs from Oct. 23, 2007 to Nov. 4, 2009 and the theme of this year's show is "Fun Driving for Us, Eco Driving for Earth". However even with this upbeat theme, many international auto makers were conspicuously absent due to the worldwide slump in auto sales.
