July 20, 2016, Tokyo, Japan: This four foot high bronze Godzilla statue stands atop a pedestal at the center of Tokyo's Hibiya Chanter Square, where Japanese movie stars are paid tribute much like Hollywood's Walk of Fame. Erected in 1995 by Toho Co. Ltd. whose headquarters are located nearby, this plaza also includes castings of Japanese movie star handprints and signatures laid into the sidewalk. The first Godzilla sci-fi classic was released by Toho in 1954, but in 2004 the studio announced an end to the film series. Then in 2014, on the 60th anniversary of Godzilla film franchise, Toho announced production of a Godzilla "re-boot" slated for release in 2016. This new film titled "Godzilla Resurgence" (Japanese title "Shin Godzilla") was released nationwide in Japan on July, 29, 2016. It is the 29th Godzilla film made by Toho, but two other Hollywood production have also been made. (Torin Boyd/Polaris).
