This is the melting operations of Corning Japan K.K. which is owned and operated by American company Corning Incorporated. At this factory called the 'Shizuoka Plant', Corning manufactures glass substrates used to produce active matrix liquid crystal displays (LCD). These substrates are then distributed to Corning Japanese clients for consumption in Japan. This photograph shows robotic glass handling at the bottom of glass draw. The man reflected in the glass is a worker who monitors the robot and occasionally does quality control checks.
