This is the high tech automated safe deposit box system in use by Resona Bank, Ltd. of Japan. Although this concept was thought up by the bank, it was jointly developed by Resona, NTT DATA Corporation, and Itoki Corporation. What makes it unique is that uses an IC cash card with biometric authentication that is used as a key by customer to access their safe deposit boxes. It is seen here being demonstrated at Resona's Tokyo Midtown branch by the branch General Manager Katsuhiko Makino. Resona opened this branch in March 2007 in the trendy building complex called Tokyo Midtown, located in the Roppongi district of central Tokyo. Photo taken Nov. 15, 2007.
