This is world famous French high wire artist Philippe Petit in Japan during a promotional tour for the documentary film about about him called Man on Wire. This film by UK director James Marsh will premier in Japan on July 4, 2009 and has garnered several prestigious awards including: the World Cinema Jury and Audience award at the Sundance Film Festival in 2008; the 2008 Full Frame Documentary Film Festival in Durham, N.C.; and the 2009 Academy Award for Best Documentary. Petit is also an Artists-in-Residence at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City and currently lives in Woodstock, New York. He is seen here giving an impromptu street performance in a small Tokyo park located in the Shibuya neighborhood on May 19, 2009.
