July 29, Tokyo, Japan: This is a temporary Godzilla goods shop set up inside Tokyo's Akihabara Station, the center of Japan's otaku and anime culture. Godzilla goods are experiencing a resurgence in Japan due to the reboot of the Godzilla film franchise by Toho Co. Ltd. Sold here are a variety of items inlcuding toys, figurines, underwear, t-shirts, crackers, notepads, pens, drink coasters, posters, magnets and magazines. This merchandising has been fueled by the latest Godzilla film entitled "Godzilla Resurgence" (Japanese title "Shin Godzilla"). This was released nationwide in Japan on July, 29, 2016 and is the 29th film in Toho's Godzilla franchise. The first Godzilla film was released by Toho in 1954, but in 2004 the studio announced an end to the film series. Then in 2014, on the 60th anniversary of Godzilla film franchise, Toho announced production of a Godzilla "reboot" for release in 2016. (Torin Boyd/Polaris).
