St_Pats_Day_2017_Dubliners_020.jpg

March 17, 2017, Tokyo, Japan: At all Irish pubs across the city including this one, Dubliner’s in Tokyo’s Shinjuku district, St. Patrick's Day revelers celebrated this day in full force. As Tokyo is home to a number of Irish and UK themed pubs, St. Pat's day is now embraced by the Japanese and celebrated not only in Tokyo but across the country. This is the result of years of promoting by the Irish ex-pat community, the Irish embassy, and most of all Guinness which has established a major footing within the Japanese beer market. Other events that take place in Tokyo during St. Pat's week include a big parade, Irish cultural festival and society ball. (Torin Boyd/Polaris).
