This is the "Windows 7 Whopper", a seven layer beef patty hamburger being sold for a limited time only at all Burger King outlets in Japan. This is a special campaign to commemorate the release of Windows® 7, Microsoft's new operating system. Both the hamburger and operating systems were released on October 22, 2009, and according Burger King Japan (BKJ) the idea for this promotional campaign originated by Microsoft. As for sales of this mega burger in a land where fresh fish and healthy diets are the norm, the Windows 7 Whopper has been a huge success. So much that the campaign has been extended an additional week to November 6, 2009. To date, October 31, a total of 10,000 Windows 7 Whoppers have sold, more than doubling their original sales forecast of 4500 by this same date. The price of the burger is 1,450 yen or $16 USD (including tax), but they also offer the first 30 burgers at each outlet daily for 777 yen $8.60 USD. These first 30 quickly sell out with most customers lining up outside prior to opening hours to purchase the discounted burger. This Windows 7 Whopper campaign is only taking place in Japan where Burger King opertates fifteen outlets nationwide (and growing). The woman in the photo is Eri Hiraoka of Tokyo, sampling a Windows 7 Whopper at the Nishi Shinjuku Burger King outlet in Tokyo on October, 31, 2009...Nutritional facts: each Windows 7 Whopper contains 7 layers of beef patties and contains 2120 calories. It weighs a 950 grams (2.09 lbs), or nearly one kilo. As for fat content, a normal single patty Whopper contains 40 grams of fat, so the estimated fat content of the Windows 7 Whopper is an astounding 280 grams of fat, the same as 2.5 sticks of butter. The daily recommended fat intake for most is 30-35 grams of fat per day.
